Carpe That DM 😈 - You need to see how Dom Dolla started 2025, did Spotify just get caught scamming artists, and much more...

Oh hey, how are ya - it’s Fourth Co.

Everyday, about 150,000 new songs are released to the world.

That means, there’s been over 450,000 tracks released since the New Year 2025 bell ring.

Only a handful of those deserve your attention, so let’s pitter patter…

Steal This - my most played song this week (probably):

Why it gets me going - literally an ear worm, this ‘rhythm to the brain’ sounds familiar yet so fresh, even in 2025. Just listen…

Notable News - 4 things:

  1. Dom Dolla celebrates NYE in banging house fashion - with the clock striking midnight, his now instant-classic ‘Rhyme Dust’ track drops and the crowd goes bonkers. I had a friend at that show and his insta story looked kinda hype. It’s better if you watch for yourself below.

  1. Spotify scamming artists out of money by creating “ghost artists” - why pay out the $0.00001 per stream when you can create fake artist profiles that technically eat up all the royalties of real life human artists. That way, you won’t have to actually pay anyone. But in all seriousness, unless you’re getting millions and millions of listeners, I don’t think you’re in any position to be complaining about not getting your $14.87 of royalty earnings from Spotify.

  1. Millions of bedroom producers and DJs have begun posting on their socials “big things coming this year” - because you can’t call yourself a DJ unless you’ve posted an extremely forgettable photo with the caption “really excited for what’s in store for you all this year.”

  1. Steve Aoki allegedly misused pandemic relief funds - and if i’m being totally honest, I don’t blame him. I love when everyone gets upset over some artist or rich person allegedly misusing the grant money they received. Like hello, get upset at the government for giving them that money. It’s on Uncle Same to do his due diligence on who’s getting paid. The pandemic was a wild time… I do not miss it.

Quaint Quote of the Week:

“Fisher on how he gets in the zone and connects with his fans”
