Notable News - 4 things ✅:

1. Brooklyn Mirage couldn’t handle the heat - filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the parent company, Avant Gardner, was unable keep its head above water after unveiling its ambition “Mirage 4.0” renovations. Originally began as a pop-up club in 2015, it quickly became one of New York City’s hottest spots to party. Delay after delay, and an ever growing budget all summer long, it’s a shame the 18,000 sq/ft venue couldn’t figure it out. Oh well, sucks to suck. Sounds like a great opportunity for other NYC venues to step up.

   

2. John Summit going big room or is Martin Garrix going tech house - the two mega stars have hinted at an upcoming collab. After bromancing together in Ibiza last month, Garrix revealed to Adam K on Tomorrowland’s ‘One World Radio’ that it’s “just a matter of time” until they release music together. Garrix just headlined the final day of Lollapalooza’s Perry’s EDM stage. I’d be lying if I said it was a great show because I was actually across the street watching Sabrina Carpenter do her thing—she was fantastic. Sue me!

   

3. AI voice startup Eleven Labs launches a music generator that’s cleared for commercial use - the rise of the AI music wars is well on its way, with the other leaders, Suno and Udio, already well ahead in their capabilities. I’ve tried some of these AI vocal and music generators and it is seriously seriously seriouslyyyy mind blowing how good this shit is. With just a few simple words and 20 seconds of processing, these things pump out fully fledged songs, capable of being completely indistinguishable from a real musician. Personally, I’m really excited to integrated this into what I’m already doing. Bring it on boys.

   

4. I’m too lazy to write a 4th notable news segment this week - instead I want to ask you, the reader, to respond to this email with any noteworthy news you’ve heard of that I haven’t covered yet. Hopefully it falls under the realm of EDM and music technology (with an EDM angle). But either way, I’d love to hear new and exciting things happening around us. So please, don’t be shy.
