Everyday, about 150,000 new songs are released to the world.

That means, there’s been over 9,448 tracks released since Malaa played out my edit at a music festival again (which you can listen below).

Notable News - 4 things ✅:

1. CDJ-3000X’s just dropped with DJ’s scratching their heads (not their decks) - with incremental upgrades, I suppose AlphaTheta (the maker of these flagship DJ standalone units) thought, “if ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” But then again, there are several annoying and finicky issues with the current 3000s. I’m in no financial position to be dropping $3k USD for two of these bad boys. I think we’ll only truly find out if they’re any good after James Hype has ran thru them.

   

2. Spotify looking to raise prices in pursuit of 1B users - currently at 700M users, usually when you have literally 1 in 11 people in the world using your platform, you wouldn’t have to increase prices. But, the CEO justifies future price increase due to new feature rollouts. I probably shouldn’t speak on behalf of everybody else but the way Spotify has been in recent years is perfectly fine… I don’t need AI, DJs, DMs, and whatever else they wanna add for a higher price.

   

3. T-Pain pulls a Shaq, soft launching his Dubstep career - the only thing I selfishly want out of this is a ‘Buy U A Drank’ melodic dubstep vip edit. Official release and all, I wanna see what T-Pain can do to all those bass wookie dancers moshing out in a neon PLUR rave. It needs his silky soulful auto-tuned vocals imprinted atop of a wonky ass, rhythmic fm bass anchored to the beat of a simple double hand snap. Can we get that please???

   

4. Tomorrowland’s TikTok livestream reached 74 million viewers - breaking the record, I’m more impressed that a single stream can hold that many people without crashing. For comparison, that’s basically Canada’s population x2. If you’re wondering about earnings, TikTok pays out about $300-$1,000 USD for every 1M views. So $22,200 - $74,000 would’ve been earned which isn’t insignificant for the average person… but when Martin Garrix charges $650,000 USD for an hour set, those earnings barely make a dent.
