Carpe That DM 😈 - Lab grown brain of late-composer plays music, Coachella may become a fully EDM festival in 2026, Daft Punk reunion rumors swirl around Fortnite, and much more...

Oh hey, how are ya - it’s Fourth Co.

Everyday, about 150,000 new songs are released to the world.

That means, there’s been over 732,087 tracks released since people complained about Coachella.

Only a handful of those deserve your attention, so let’s pitter patter…

Steal This - my most played song this week (probablyšŸ‘‡):

Why it gets me going - yes, this may be a flip of my own doing, but it still is my most listened to song this week. Chris Lake dropped his new track ā€˜In My Head’ at Coachella last Friday which sounded perfect in my head. Hence the idea of throwing over the iconic ā€œ1, 2, 3, 4ā€ vocal from the talented Princess Superstar on ā€˜Perfect (Exceeder).’ With nearly 1,500 streams in the last few days and 50 downloads, the people like it (check out the description for the Free Download link).

Notable News - 4 things āœ…:

  1. Is Coachella turning into a Dance/EDM festival - because 39% of all artists that performed at Coachella fell under that category. While I wouldn’t say EDM (or any of its sub genres) are nearly a fraction of the size in commercial popularity to that of Rap, Country, and Pop, clearly festival goers have shown a growing interest in seeing dance music acts. Even mega popstars like Charli XCX have seemed to fully incorporate an EDM driven sound.

  2. Americans may be getting direct flights to the island of dance music, Ibiza - rumors have been floating of direct travel from New York, Miami, and Atlanta, straight to the tiny island off the Iberian Peninsula. I’ve been to Ibiza and it’s airport is shockingly small, nonetheless, if the people want a direct flight, then let the money speak for itself!

  3. Daft Punk rumors are swirling that they’re getting back together to play a virtual show in Fornite??? - no disrespect to Fortnite but like, cmon Daft Punk, you’re so beyond having to sell your name and likeness to a video game. If you recall, the duo ā€œbroke upā€ in 2021, which I personally think was just a marketing gimmick so when they ā€œget back together,ā€ everyone goes crazy. If you recall, Swedish House Mafia tired this and their breakup and reunion was beautifully executed and received.

  4. Some nerds grew a famous dead experimental composer’s brain in a lab that was able to play music - really hard for me to wrap my head around this but basically a famous composer died a few years ago and donated his cells to a research lab. Some nerds then grew a new ā€œorganoidā€ described as "two white blobs, like a tiny pair of jellyfish." Next, they hooked it up to different musical instruments to send electrical signals back and forth which then was able to (arguably) make some of the worst possibly sounding music. All of this freaks me out… but then I again, I’d be down to hear what kind of bass lines this organoid was able to slap down tho šŸ‘€
