Notable News - 4 things ✅:

1. Gryffin brought out fake Justin Bieber while performing in Vegas - they both had the entire club duped while throwing down Bieb’s iconic “Sorry” song with Diplo and Skrillex. From all the videos, this dude looked like the real deal, so props to him. At the end of a TikTok Gryffin posted, his manager (I used to DJ with him back in university) reveals that it was a fake J. Biebs… so even Gryff didn’t know! I bumped into and met Gryffin at Lollapalooza while watching Sabrina Carpenter in the middle of the crowd, he seemed like a chill dude.

2. Insomniac is suing the Club Space Miami and Miami Music Week mini-festival Factory Town guys over a paltry $75,000 - in what sounds like a classic “he said/she said,” Insomniac claims in 2019 they held a 51% stake in Club Space while single-handedly funded Factory Town with over $40 million in investments, only for the Club Space/Factory Town owners to later “rescind agreements, demand substantially more ownership, and seek additional funds.” If you aren’t familiar, Insomniac has become the largest North American EDM events player. May the best lawyers win.
   

3. You can now be a DJ within Spotify - users can now sort through playlists with custom volume, EQ, tempo, key, effects, and mixing controls. There’s even beat grids and waveforms to fine tune your transitions. I think this is a really cool concept, and reflecting on my university days, pulling up to a pre-party before I DJ the entire night only to have a group of girls trying to DJ on Spotify, this will definitely democratize and make the whole music listening experience that much better. It’s still in beta but try updating your Spotify to see if you have access.

4. Fourth Co. drops a sexy original house chune called, “Frequency” - the Canadian-born, Chicago-based artist said “fuck it we’ll do it live” and decided to self-release his latest song after a slew of label rejections and ghostings. If you haven’t caught on yet, Fourth Co. is me and I am Fourth Co. I’ve been playing out this track for the last few months and honestly, I get such a great crowd reaction—the booth bunnies vibe with me and the bridge section where I hit my vocals hard with a handful of sultry “ughs” really pulls a great reaction out of everybody.
