Carpe That DM 😈 - James Hype goes to Harvard, the Chainsmokers almost never released their best song, YouTube is older than half the people reading this, and much more...

Oh hey, how are ya - it’s Fourth Co.

Everyday, about 150,000 new songs are released to the world.

That means, there’s been over 7 tracks released since John Summit posted a thirst trap on IG for his 1M+ followers.

Only a handful of those deserve your attention, so let’s pitter patter…

Steal This - my most played song this week (probablyšŸ‘‡):

Notable News - 4 things āœ…:

  1. The Chainsmokers revealed their most famous song (currently sitting at 3.2B streams) was almost never released - Closer was released 9 years and was originally suppose to feature vocals from Camilla Cabello with the premier of the song at Coachella. But, in true vocalist fashion, she no-call no-showed and dusted the boys to instead go hang out with T. Swift. They played their own version without the female vocals and the crowd went wild. With only 5 weeks to go, Halsey was able to slide in and the rest is history…

  2. YouTube is almost old enough to buy a beer - celebrating its 20th birthday, the Google-owned prized jewel for really all of humanity has been democratizing information, education, and entertainment since 2005. I remember before YouTube, my friends and I would go aol.com and try and listen to music at the computer lab in elementary school. Anyway, attached below is the most viewed music video on YouTube of Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee at 8.7B!

  1. BOX BOX BOX: we’ve got Tiesto, Dom Dolla, Peggy Gou, and other big name DJs releasing music in the new Brad Pitt flick - the highly-anticipated ā€˜F1’ racing movie, directed by Joseph Kosinki, the same guy who did Top Gun Maverick, Oblivion, Tron Legacy, should be an instant future classic. I first heard about this director back when he did one of my all-time fav commercials for Halo 3 and Gears of War. Fun fact, one of my old office buddy’s who sat next to me is the first cousin of this director and I heard some cool behind the scenes stories. Let’s hope the official soundtrack matches the rest of the film’s vibe.

  2. James Hype never went to Harvard, but he taught a class there about how to make it - with the help of Justin Cohen, founder of Cosmic Academy, this reminds me of the famous quote ā€œI never went to Harvard, but the people that work for me did.ā€ Apparently James never even finished high school which goes to show you the amount of willpower and unrelenting dedication he has put into his artistry, craft, and brand as one of the most hype DJs in the world. I’ve had my eye on him for a few years and he’s been a massive inspiration for me so I’m happy seeing this.

Something I learned this week - and think it’s worth sharing 🧠:

What about it: for anybody who doesn’t know me personally, I read a lot. I have my main core subjects I like to focus on, most of it has nothing to do with music. However, I’ve taken a major fascination in recent years about the power of marketing vs advertising and building a brand when it comes to the music business. The guest on this podcast really resonated with me and clearly knows what he’s talking about. If you don’t agree with me, email me back and let me know where he’s lacking—I’m always trying to learn more!

Quaint Quote of the Week āœļø:

ā€œPeggy Gou on her resilient attitude and how she was able to get to where she is nowā€

Need help preventing a hangover after a late night Bender?

We’ve all been there—the morning after a night out, when the fun catches up, and the hangiexty sets in. Your head’s in a boxing match and your stomach’s swirling around like a hot jacuzzi. You told yourself just ā€œ1 drink tonightā€ and all of the sudden you’re in some random kitchen at 4am šŸ’€

Hangover’s hit hard… and they hit even harder when you get older. So why are you still doing NOTHING about it??

The cure: that’s where the Bender Extender comes inšŸ‘‡

Your hangover’s worst enemy: it’s packed with liver loving vitamins & minerals, Mother Earth’s natural green ingredients, and activated charcoal to accelerate the detoxification process of removing the alcohol’s deadly toxins from your body.

This stuff will literally revive you, so act wisely!

⚔Best way to take the Bender Extender:

  1. Take the ā€œbefore you boozeā€ capsule with a cup of water

  2. Take the ā€œbefore you sleepā€ capsule after boozing it all night (also with water)

  3. Wake up feeling pretty damn good

  4. Go on with your day... or be a degenerate like me and extend your bender

Try it out with the link below (but don’t wait too long), summer is pretty much herešŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡

Still rawdogging your hearing without Earplugs at live shows?

Have you heard (pun intended)… Martin Garrix and Alesso both suffer from significant hearing loss (aka Tinnitus).

The solution: buy some half decent ear plugs and save your hearing!

I’ve used Eargasm’s Earplugs for 2.5 years while DJing for hundreds of hours.
