1. Techno princess Deborah de Luca drops out of music festival because of the font size of her name on the flyer - if there was ever a bigger ego move than this, please direct me to it. I guess it was on HARD Summer’s graphic designers to not get too artsy fartsy with their designs. I’d also be annoyed over this, but de Luca wasn’t too happy with how small her name appeared on the festival lineup flyer—to which organizers responded they wouldn’t make her name any bigger. So naturally she fully drops out because she says it “was not dignified for my career”
   

   

2. After 20 years, renowned EDM Production school, ICON Collective, abruptly shut its doors - the trailblazing production and artist development school, which earned national accreditation in 2017, finally went bankrupt. They truly did accomplish something big, launching the careers of major international acts like NGHTMRE, Slander, Kayzo, and the late i_o. Looks like my music production alma matter ‘Cosmic Academy’ stonks just went up
   

   

3. Do you know how many streams it takes for a musician to make a $15/hour full-time wage - at the heart of this question is what helped pass Resolution 368 by the New York City Council. It aims at securing higher pay for working musicians from streaming services who currently earn on average $0.0033 per play. At that rate, an artist would have to generate 800,000 monthly streams to earn a $15/hr equivalent! Glad I ditched my old finance job and went into a real money making industry
   

   

4. Spotify quietly rolled out a new “Upcoming Releases” hub - allowing fans to easily pre-save multiple upcoming releases from their favorite artists. Listeners can quickly jump into “Countdown Pages” to reveal all kinds of information and content up until release. Then, on release day, Spotify will send a push notification to all the fans who’ve pre-saved, automatically adding the music to their library. Artists reading this right now: we need to lock in and started utilizing this new feature asap
