Notable News - 4 things ✅:

1. Diplo barely arrested with $350k USD fine over illegal Ibiza rave - in 2024, he had an illegal popup rave on the western shores of the Iberian Island. The land that the party took place on apparently is some of Spain’s most heavily protected natural wildlife areas. Classified as an ecological sensitive zone in Europe, local officials called the location a “vulnerable area” which prompted the massive fine. But that’s the cost of showbiz baby, you run that risk with an illegal rave.

   

2. French President Macron wants to recognize French House Music as a global cultural heritage - “We are inventors of electro. We have that French Touch,” calling on UNESCO to preserve French house as a culturally important movement to global electronic dance music. This request also comes at a time when the global music industry grapples with the disruption of AI. Macron has always been a little fruity when it comes to this kind of stuff but he’s totally in the right pushing for the respect that French House Music deserves.

   

3. John Summit signs a 1-day contract with the Chicago Cubs - jk he’s not actually a baseball player, but he did throw out the first pitch and sing the 7th inning stretch song “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” I was shocked at how unathletic he actually is (for a guy who’s in as good of shape as him lol). Prior to the game, he made a stop over the at Barstool HQ which is also located in the heart of his hometown. There’s a YouTube vlog that just dropped this week showcasing all of this in very Summy fashion.

   

4. Apple Music opens brand new music 4,000 sq ft studio in Los Angeles - in celebration with its 10 year birthday, the new space has been designed as a “playground” for artists and creators to accomplish all things arts related, not just music. Not sure how a person gets access or is eventually able to use/visit these studios but I know for a fact I will never see this place irl. Seems chill tho.
