1. Deadmau5’s label, Mau5trap, launches a 24-hour YouTube music streaming channel - called “Airplane Mode,” the vibe consists of deep house and melodic techno for the “purpose of relaxation and concentration.” They've already started with 100 curated tracks that have also been made into a Spotify playlist. So sit back, relax, and get ready for “no turbulence, just pure vibes.”
   
   

   

2. DistroKid allows artists upload full length music videos to Spotify via DistroVid- my theories are becoming correct that Spotify is slowly but surely turning a social media app in own category. For anybody who doesn’t know, DistroKid is a music distribution platform that allows independent artist to release their music to all the streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Pandora, etc. I always thought it was stupid that streaming platforms don’t just allow users to upload directly to their sites like how anybody can post directly to YouTube or Instagram.
   

   

3. Spotify is getting sneaky ripping off artists, says US Government - American Senators accuse the Swedish music platform of secretly bundling its higher tier subscription with audiobook services under a single plan in order to pay out a lower royalty rate to artists. By doing this, they bypass certain restrictions which allows them to pay out millions of dollars USD less in royalties. To be clear, this comes only from a letter that claims Spotify has “exploited” artists, whether that’s true or not remains to be unknown.
   
   

   

4. Fourth Co. plays his first ever music festival performance at Summerfest 2025 - I don’t think Milwaukee is ready for the Chicago-based, Canadian-born DJ & Producer to throw tf down Friday, June 27th as direct support for the headliner, BG Good, at Aurora Pavilion. House music and booth bunnies paired in with an overwhelming dash of Canadian charisma, the people are officially boarding the Fourth Co. pitter patter train. Summerfest, the world’s biggest music festival, is lucky to finally be graced by the likes of Fourthyyyyy. LFG!!
