Everyday, about 150,000 new songs are released to the world.

That means, there’s been over 894,750,000 tracks released since Deadmau5 released “Ghost ‘n’ Stuff.”

Only a handful of those deserve your attention, so let’s pitter patter…

Why it gets me going - Once in a while, someone sends you a track that has the perfect balance of thy house music trifecta: soul, swing, and groove. I can’t quite explain it, but this track heals me like a warm sun on a cold February day. It’s hard to resist taping your foot or bopping your head when the beat comes in. Now there’s more to be said about this song, but I’d rather let the music do the talking. Listen for yourself….

Notable News - 4 things:

1. DJ collapses mid-set, stopping the music at Berlin’s iconic ‘Berghain’ club - which is pretty soft if you ask me. I first read the headline as “DJ makes booth collapse” which got me all fired up and reminded me of this one time during 2nd year of university when I actually made the floor collapse at a house party while DJing. But instead, this DJ posts a picture with little paper cut on his face. It’s Berghain… go big or don’t show at all. Again, pretty soft.

   

2. The 2025 Electronic Dance Music Awards fan-voting is officially open - and some of the categories have already taken big leads. The event is being held at the Eden Roc Miami during Miami Music Week, March 26-28. As I mentioned in a previous post, last year at the EDMAs, thanks to rising talent, Houston-based Techno artist Athenz, I was able to brush shoulders and meet some of the biggest names in dance music like Deadmau5, Kaskade, David Guetta, Mark Knight, Mau P, Cloonee, Gryffin, Loud Luxury, Austin Kramer, and tons more.

   

3. SoundCloud artists can now create shows and sells tickets thanks to new Ticketmaster partnership - surely this will become super convenient for artists’ SoundCloud super fans. Personally, I find my SoundCloud fans are engaged and actively search out my new music whereas my Spotify data seem to suggest my followers are much more passive. I already post all of my “upcoming events” to my Spotify artist profile via Bandsintown, but doing this directly within Soundcloud should come in very hand.

   

4. Paid users of the industry-standard DJ software ‘Rekordbox’ report issues of sudden subscription cancellations - you’d think a company with a software that’s been around for over 15 years knows how to take your money without any technical difficulties. And yet, AlphaTheta, the parent company, doesn’t seem like your typical greedy corporation. No, they just seem incompetent with their flagship product while simultaneously alienating millions of DJs around the world.
