Why it gets me going - Hollaback Girl has to be in the top 10 of all time songs to sing out loud with a group of people. Anytime I hear it live in Chicago, everybody goes feral… so I’m like, why don’t I just make my own remix. If you find yourself tapping your foot or singing along, then I’ve done my job correctly. Enjoy your B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

Notable News - 4 things:

1. Skrillex just emailed some random people his unreleased music - if it were me receiving it, I would’ve sent that thing straight to the spam folder and marked for deletion. I do think this marketing pre-release strategy is much better than what U2 did 10 years ago. If you recall, they added their new album to everyone’s iTunes…. I still haven’t been able to delete those songs eh 🤢

   

2. Festival season is just around the corner and you CANNOT be rawdogging your ears at the main stage - or any stage for that matter. 3. Burning Man announces a new ticketing system - which means nothing to me. I thought burning man was like an EDM Mad Max without all the cannibalism. Now they’re telling me they have tiered ticketing systems. Again, I can’t wrap my brain around that… like bro, can’t you just show up in a 37 wheel bicycle made out of bamboo and just rave for free???

   

4. TikTok announced that 84% of Billboard Global Top 200 songs went viral - these findings come from their 2024 ‘Music Impact Report.’ This news kinda sucks for me because I think I have like 400 followers on TikTok (which labels looooove to see by the way). I need to try and go viral on TikTok again if I want any real music industry success, brb…
