Oh hey, how are ya - itās Fourth Co.
Everyday, about 150,000 new songs are released to the world.
That means, thereās been about 5,000 tracks released since Deadmau5 complained online about literally anything.
Only a handful of those deserve your attention, so letās pitter patterā¦
Steal This - my most played song this week (probably):
Why it gets me going - Now Iām not one to listen to much rap or hip hop. But back in my university days, I had a housemate who used to rinse out the original Young M.A track āOOOUUU.ā Iāve never forgotten the iconic line āyou call her Stephanie? I call her Heffanieeeee.ā Naturally, Cloonee went to work and turned that vocal into a dark tech house chune that can get any crowd singing along to. Trust me, I saw Chris Lorenzo this past weekend in Chicago at an intimate dusk set with a crowd of no more than 100 people. āStephanieā was easily the one of the best received tracks. With that being, steal this song.
Notable News - 4 things:
Tomorrowland turns 20 years old - and is releasing a movie called āOne Yearā to commemorate two decades of the festivalās āinfluence in global culture.ā I have to give them credit, I vividly remember watching my first Tomorrowland Aftermovie on YouTube back in 2012 during my high school media arts class - coincidently the same class where I made my first ever song! Goosebumps galore rewatching this aftermovie after all these years. The featured music really set me well on my path during my early formative EDM years. Watch (and listen) for yourself and donāt let the fomo sink in too hardā¦
Another Miami Art Basel has passed and I still have no f*cking clue whatās going on - upon a quick Google search, it appears that itās the āSuper Bowl of the art world.ā As someone who cares deeply about art (except modern art lol), the event sure knows how to stir up fervorous hype and pomposity in a city known for its lavish tastes. In that respect, I can respect it. But truthfully, it feels more like a link up to get all the rich and famous and hot people together for one weekend to blow some money and party hard - while the rest of us stay home. Well we are talking about the art world⦠what else is new.
Tiesto visits the White House for a potential new ambassadorship - or could these swirling rumors be false? At this point, can we start officially calling him the āGodfather of EDM.ā I donāt know where we would be without him - I definitely wouldnāt be writing this newsletter. Heās not only one of the most prolific DJs and Producers of all time, averaging around 250 shows per year, but Iām pretty sure his booking fee starts at $500,000-$750,000 USD per show. The man clearly knows how to make money while throwing down. In Tiesto We Trust.
Madison Square Garden is turning into an underground night club (again) - we got Dom Dolla throwing 2 shows there, March 2025. Skrillex, Fred Again.., and Four Tet had to walk at MSG so that guys like Dom Dolla and John Summit could run. As one of the most iconic venues in the world, packed right in the heart of New York City, the popularity of house music is stronger than ever in America. Itās also looking more like DJs with a crisp mustache (aka Dom Dolla) can secure bigger bags which is great news for guys like me (aka Canadian mustache man, Fourth Co.)
