Carpe That DM 😈 - Boiler Room just sold for $1.4B, Skrillex is headlining this Music Fest after 10 years, Spotify makes history again, and much more...

Oh hey, how are ya - it’s Fourth Co.

Everyday, about 150,000 new songs are released to the world.

That means, there’s been over 538,050,000 amount tracks released since Skrillex last headlined Miami Ultra.

Only a handful of those deserve your attention, so let’s pitter patter…

Steal This - my most played song this week (probablyšŸ‘‡):

Why it gets me going - shameless plug but my own song is my fav track this week so - Story time:

  1. Believe it or not, I made this song over 3 years ago.

  2. Even more unbelievable, those are my original vocals!

  3. Did some label shopping but didn't feel like a good fit for the direction of my sound and the Fourth Co. brand that I've been building out.

  4. Fast-forward to 2025, decided to take a risk on myself and self-release it as my first official song of the year

  5. Lowkey always imagined John Summit signing this to his ā€˜Exports Only’ label but I never even tried sending this to him

😈 It'll be available for Free Download to the first 44 people that want it and will be added to the House Music to Impress the Booth Bunnies playlist on Spotify

Notable News - 4 things:

  1. After 10 years, Skrillex is back to headline Ultra Music Festival 2025 - taking place in March, the King of Dubstep is anticipated to take a new direction this year now that he’s officially an independent artist. Fans have been waiting a long time for this, Miami is just the place to kick off this new era.

  2. Boiler Room has been sold again for $1.4B USD - this time DICE, the independent ticket company, sells it to Superstruct Entertainment, apparently the European equivalent of events supergiant, Live Nation. Personally, Boiler Room sets lost their ā€˜underground’ identity a while ago. Maybe these new owners can get it back on track to its roots and give us something like what got me originally hooked: the Kaytranada, Montreal 2014 set.

  3. Axwell sells his Axtone Records label to Swedish entertainment group, Pophouse - founded in 2005, Axtone has released over 200 tracks, including ā€˜In My Mind’ by Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl and ā€˜Tell Me Why’ by Supermode (aka Axwell & Steve Angello). Looks like Pophouse also recently acquired the catalogs of Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Cyndi Laumper, and even KISS - so they’re clearly making some big boy moves right now.

  4. December 2023 had Spotify hit 731 million monthly users - setting a record high for the company amidst a soaring stock price and a backdrop of controversy. Basically a quarter of a billion people, or 1 in 10 people alive, used Spotify last month. That’s pretty outrageous if you ask me. As much as people love to complain about CEO Daniel Elk not paying artists’ their fair share of royalties, especially after racking in $4B USD in revenue in 2023, he’s not wrong when he says the ā€œcost of creating contentā€ on the platform is ā€œclose to zero.ā€
